The air freight industry is making strides towards becoming greener, with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) gaining traction as a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional kerosene. Fuel manufacturers, airlines, digital cargo booking platforms and other stakeholders are working together to make SAF more accessible. In Germany, the Offenbacher Stadtrat Paul-Gerhard Weiß has been appointed as the new chair of the Fluglärmkommission for Frankfurt Airport. Finally, an EU project called Circular is researching how sustainable aviation fuels can be produced from agricultural waste while Cologne’s marketing agency Echte Liebe will be supporting Flughafen Lübeck and Lübeck Air with strategic advice, data creation and media services. Airlander plans on providing efficient regional flights as well as freight transport by airship.
